a tool to help you get organized

3 parts: Introduction, Body and Conclusion

Introduction

- introduces the topic;

- states the thesis (typically the last sentence in the intro)

Body

- supports the thesis statement;

- provides evidence;

- organizes arguments strongest to weakest

Conclusion

- restates the thesis statement;

- summarizes the arguments

An outline can be formal (using roman numerals)
or informal (concept map).
